MATCH GRANTS

Match Grants
Match grants provide a means by which Dakota Medical Foundation partners with others to leverage our existing investments and improve medical and dental access for people of our region. By providing matching funds to an overall joint fundraising campaign, we are issuing a challenge to individuals and organizations to donate to a health-related program.

Adding Value To Donations
Dakota Medical Foundation adds significant value to donated funds in addition to providing matching funds by:
  • Monitoring the grant's performance to ensure donations have maximum impact on health.

  • Conducting outcomes/results analysis.

  • Attracting other resources for supported programs.

  • Supporting efforts to improve the performance of the program or organization.
How It Works
For example, your fundraising goal is $10,000. During the fundraising campaign, $10,000 is raised through contributions from the public. DMF holds and administers all contributions. *DMF, or an affiliated organization, matches the $10,000 (to the extent the contributions were received) and awards a grant of $20,000 to your organization.

*Consistent with IRS regulations and the grant agreement, DMF shall be the absolute and sole owner of the donor contributions and shall have absolute control and discretion over the use of the contributions. Although DMF has the unilateral power to redirect the use of the donor contributions, it is the intent of DMF to make a grant to the grant partner in the amount of contributions received plus matching funds, to the extent contributions were received. In addition, the contributions must be held and administered according to DMF bylaws, articles of incorporation, and other rules, regulations, and policies.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Generally, organizations eligible to receive DMF GiveBack match grants must meet the following criteria:
  1. Actively participate in the DMF-supported Institute for Innovation and Effectiveness; and

  2. Exhibit a financial need; and

  3. Demonstrate a commitment to building an efficient and effective fundraising system; and

  4. Demonstrate a mission and/or project consistent with DMF's funding priorities and guidelines.
